Back to the 18th century…

First cuts with the Kenyon saw, by Wenzloff & Sons.
Just in time for

Woodworking in America conference in St Charles, my Kenyon saw replica by Wenzloff & Sons arrived this morning. Although other chores awaited, I had to open the box and give the new saw a trial run.

I am glad I ordered the saw and, better yet, that I wait no more. The new/old saw worked great, it was extremely easy to start the cut, and was effortless to use. I will be giving it a full workout when I have a little break from other projects in the shop, and a short trip to West of Chicago… Something about a nice conference going on in the next few days.

I will have more in a later entry. In the meantime, to read the background to this wonderful saw, I invite you to read several entries on the Woodworking Magazine blog, by Christopher Schwarz.

There’s just something about receiving a new tool in the mail and having to do something with it right then and there – even if you don’t have a project in progress that actually requires it!
