I spied my friend John at the workbench, trying out one of the Lee Valley bevel-up hand planes. The surface of the highly figured maple (I think) was perfect after he made two passes. No need to sand – ready for the finishing touches.
As I don’t have one of these in my shop, it will probably make a nice entry on the list I am now preparing for Christmas – and I make a solid promise to be good. My only dilemma: Where on that list should it go?
