The stand-up desk is taking shape

I was at a good stopping point to get a breather, and to see how the drawer frame (the front apron) fits, along with the side stretchers I machined yesterday. First, a highlight of the drawer frame in place:

The following two photos show the side stretchers in place, 7 inches above the floor:

As you see in the last photo, the dust cover currently shows just below the drawer frame. I will trim it to proper size following this dry fit. Only then will the front view look better, as the dust cover will be well hidden behind the drawer frame.

Since the two side stretchers are now in place, I can accurately measure the required length for the medial stretcher. The medial stretcher will form the letter “H” with the two side stretchers. Tip: As I did here, wait until you have the two side stretchers, before cutting to length a critical component like the medial stretcher. I know of no other way to do it; but if you have a suggestion, let me know via the Comments section (click on Comments link just below the title for this post).

Next: A nice, cold refreshment on this holiday weekend. If you are on the road, have a safe trip. I wish you all a Happy Labor Day weekend!
