Pine is difficult to work due to the sticky mess it creates. But it is especially so when it is construction grade pine. Using a low-angle block plane, I was able to clean up the edges of the legs to improve their appearance:
I used the band saw once again to make the table top from the remaining 2″ x 6″; resawing was uneventful, but I must now clean the blade and guide bearings once again due to the sticky pitch that comes off on every surface. The top glue-up ready, I had to snap one more photo before quitting for the night:
This little table still needs some attention, to attach the legs to the top and install a stretcher to between the legs. The joints at the bevels on the leg tips held well with epoxy, following a no-clamp glue-up.

A very nice look Al. I like it better seeing it in real wood than it appeared in the sketches. A nagging little voice in my head says, “those legs are never going to hold”, but then I remind myself to have faith, Al knows what he’s doing.
Steve,
I consider the sketches a simple starting point, nothing more – but also nothing less. Sometimes a prototype will confirm whether that nagging little voice is right. In my case, it has been right many times!
Really cool design – looking good!
Thanks, Jeff! I will do a little more work on it, and call it done.
