My drawers
When something is not shown in public, people wonder what you have in your drawers. So, here it is — I finally show how messy things can get under the workbench. Things are a mess, because I have not cleaned shop for at least the last three of four projects.
Progress
Most of the short cuts are sorted, with many destined for the fireplace (except walnut and the very soft woods). And the desk is still a messy place. But, worst of all, the workbench has become a drop-it-all-there-and-make-it-fit dump, especially so for my measuring and layout tools.

And your shop? Your turn.
I would like to hear what you do after you finish each project – do YOU clean up completely, and put every tool back where it belongs? Or do you also “cheat”, and wait until a “better” time to do so?

Thank you very much Al you’re a gentleman, you keep your promises. Beautiful video, I love it. You have an unusual workbench, the best drawers I’ve seen a woodworker, and many tools that are jewels. I really like your old chisels Stanley.
So much so I forgot your question. Well, when I finish a project, i like store my tools and clean the work area.
Ordered Husband, wife happy!
Very nice music.
Thanks, Ramon.
I normally clean up, too. But Summer has been busy, with a *lot* of work outdoors, the swimming pool, mowing – a LOT of mowing, etc. But I will finish this clean-up task.
Messy but YOU know where everything is. It’s funny how a shop evolves like an extension of a person. Every-time I see someone elses shop I feel like I have been allowed to root around in someones mind for a bit.
Thanks for sharing.
Ryan,
Right – I do know where things are. I know, from past experience, that I will feel “lost” after I finish the clean-up.
this video is a gift, I remember when friends at facebook ask you to show your room, and you as a man of honr has made it true, Ive really enjoy it Al, thanks for this spy time at your shop, I have to say I am a big devoted of chisels so I was amazed by the ray iles D2 steel !!! I wish I could prove it and I also like the oldies stanley ones and it was funny to check out we both share those terrific stanley 5002 models. Very good to have watched it my friend
I am very glad you enjoyed it too, Julio. Yes – I have many chisels, they are now all sharp, and ready to use. I also love old tools – we picked up many at auctions.
Wadayamean; a mess? Looks great to me!
Even the HSS on the bench isn’t so bad. (Horizontal Surface Syndrome)
As always, thanks for Mr. Riley’s music.
Messy – but I had to share, as I hoped everyone sees they are not alone…
