I returned from a quick trip to Kansas just in time for the wienie roast, followed by roasting marshmallows in the backyard fireplace at our daughter’s home. Her husband and girls organized this as part of (what is now) a ritual burning of “sticks” picked up from the yard following a storm. And, since I will also be on the road today, our granddaughters suggested moving the date of the roast, so I could attend. They wanted to be with Papa, too.
The temperatures were already in the upper 30s when Sandy and I headed home. But it was GREAT to be together for this terrific family gathering – thank you, girls, for thinking of Papa! I had a ball helping 3-year old Zoe roast her marshmallows, and Rita to put out her fiery mallows twice. It was wonderful!
This morning the temperature was 30°F, with more of the same expected at least one more night. But we expect a nice warm-up into the 60s and even mid-70s in the next few days.
