    How thick is that bottom for it to accommodate the inlaid tiles..?

    Ok, so the tiles were not inlaid, just glued on.

    Methinks you have progressed from there since..!

    The “glue” is actually a high-temperature silicone, suitable for the heat that the tiles could experience in service. It took months to cure, and it is messy!

    I actually may do it the same way in the future, as a regular glue may not hold up properly.
